General Carl McNair

General Carl H. McNair, Jr. The US Army's first chief of its aviation branch.

 

Gen. McNair, a highly decorated master aviator, flew more that 4,500 hours during his career, almost 1,500 hours in combat. McNair was named to the Army Aviation Hall of Fame and a DIstinguished Graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point, an honor bestowed on fewer than one hundred graduates.
